This is a great article on blogging by Andrew Sullivan I chanced upon yesterday. I’ve been thinking a lot about the blog as a genre and he has a lot of good stuff to say on it. I agree that the blog is “enabling writers to express themselves in ways that have never been seen or understood before. Its truths are provisional, and its ethos collective and messy. Yet the interaction it enables between writer and reader is unprecedented, visceral, and sometimes brutal. And make no mistake: it heralds a golden era for journalism.”
Worth taking a look. Certainly a good read on a Saturday.

The biggest plus with maintaining a blog is that it’s like an online journal of sorts that can house all of those beliefs, concepts, ideas as they happen (or within a designated timeframe). It allows the freedm to experiment more than a traditional novel ever could and it becomes a written history, a record of a single life. There are some surprising illuminations that are brought to light through the readership/author exchange as well. I can see my flaws more clearly as readers directly respond to antiquated or just plain erroneous thinking. It can get me to review personal growth and have that 20/20 hindsight view. It also helps discipline me to organize my thoughts. I enjoy blogging and I enjoy reading other’s beautiful blogs like yours. Never stop. Find your voice and write, write, write until your fingers give out! 🙂
